Walking Companions and Charity Walks
Looking for a walking companion or someone to join your Charity Walk?
Although some people are quite content to walk the mountains alone, others prefer to have company. Let's face it - it's always helpful to have some encouragement, especially when you get to the point when you otherwise might feel like turning back!
So I thought I'd put up a page whereby people who like to find a companion for a particular walk can post their details and hopefully get a response.
If you've a sponsored walk coming up please feel free to send me the details to advertise here too.
About ten years past I walked up Ben Nevis. Unfortunately we chose the rocky path up and back. In hindsight we should have taken the other route around the side of the mountain. I am told it is a bit more dangerous, however, more user friendly underfoot. A couple of years later I hiked Snowdon in Wales. much more enjoyable to say the least. Both adventures were done between the ages of 65 and 70. I wish to complete the trinity by doing Scafell Pike in May of 2012. At this time (god willing) I will be 78 years young, in excellent condition, both physically and mentally. I am a Canadian/British citizen living in Northern Ontario. It is my hope that i could meet a person (with patience) that would accompany me on this project. I am not a speed merchant, but a cautious hiker. Be assured I will be successful, at my own pace!
Anyone interested in accompanying Russ please email Webmaster@mountainwalk.co.uk
How to advertise for a companion:
1. Email me your contact details, when and where you wish to walk, and a bit about the person you are, and the sort of person you are looking for.
2. I'll post the details here with the exception of your contact details.
3. If anyone replies I will forward the email on.
4. Whether you take up the offer is up to you, and it's up to you to check whether anyone contacting you is going to be suitable.
5. Once you've found your companion, or have decided not to proceed please let me know so I can take your details off the site.

We are looking for corporate teams from across the UK to take part in our famous 3 Peaks Challenge event for Action Medical Research.
The challenge is on for teams of 4-6 to summit the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in the ultimate team challenge. Action Medical Research's 3 Peaks Challenge has an extra special challenge built-in as teams must take charity mascot Paddington Bear to the summit of each mountain. Many teams will aim to complete the challenge in 24 hours or less, others will take closer to 30 hours.
All funds raised by the challenge will support the work of Action Medical Research and will make a huge difference to the research the charity is able to fund offering hope to the many thousands of families across the UK who are dealing with the trauma of a baby born too early, striving to support a child affected by disability, or facing the challenge of caring for a child with a rare and devastating disease for which there is no cure.

Action for Charity Calls walkers for the 3 Peaks Challenge:
The Snowdonia Charity Challenge is a hugely popular team challenge set in the stunning Snowdonia National Park. Teams of four are challenged to cycle 40 miles, climb Snowdon and canoe Lake Gwynant to raise funds to support men and women paralysed in sporting accidents.
REGAIN is the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the lives of men and women who have become tetraplegic in a sporting accident. One minute these individuals are fit, active and healthy, the next they are paralysed and in need of support for the rest of their lives.
Take part in the Snowdonia Charity Challenge and help REGAIN to support more men and women paralysed in sporting accidents.
